Rhona Flin, PhD, FBPsS, FRSE, FRAeS, FRCSEd, is Professor of Industrial Psychology, Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University and Emeritus Professor of Applied Psychology, University of Aberdeen, Scotland. She carries out research and consultancy on human performance in high risk industries, looking at leadership, culture, team skills and decision making in healthcare, aviation and the energy sectors.

She led the Scottish Patient Safety Research Network (2007-2012), as well as the projects to identify the non-technical skills in anaesthetists (ANTS), surgeons (NOTSS) and scrub nurses (SPLINTS). In 2015, she was a Fellowship ad hominem by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Her books include Safety at the Sharp End: A Guide to Non-Technical Skills (2008, with O’Connor & Crichton) and Enhancing Surgical Performance: A Primer on Non-Technical Skills (2015, with Yule and Youngson).

Dr. Flin will be speaking on Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m.
