Most CCJM editorials are invited and relate to a specific article in the Journal. Editorials should be no longer than 1,000 words (not counting references, tables, or figures) with a maximum of 12 references.

Unlike standard articles, editorials generally do not undergo our usual peer review process. Although an editorial is expected to be an "opinion piece," we rely on the authors to present their perspective in a forthright, accurate manner, clearly distinguishing evidence-based information from opinion.

When discussing results of clinical studies, the absolute risk value and number needed to treat should be included whenever possible, rather than the relative risk and hazard ratio.
