According to the American Heart Association, in the US, every 40 seconds someone experiences a stroke, another person has a heart attack, and a third person dies of cardiovascular disease.1 More than 92 million American adults have some form of cardiovascular disease or poststroke symptoms, and the costs are well above $300 billion. 1
