Dr. Benjamin is a staff psychiatrist at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center and a clinical assistant professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, both in Oklahoma City, OK. Prior to his VA appointment, he was the staff psychiatrist for the 72nd Medical Group, Tinker Air Force Base, OK, and he is currently a psychiatrist in the U.S. Air Force Reserve Individual Mobilization Augmentee program.
Primary care providers are taking on more responsibility for mental health care than ever before. This model uses psychiatric consultation on specific patient issues to support primary care providers and improve the quality of referrals.
