The school counselor calls the parents of a 15-year-old male student to discuss the boy's disruptive behavior at school. This is not the first time; last year, he was suspended for a week for regularly picking fights with his classmates. The parents have observed that their child seemed always restless both at school and at home while he was in grade school. He was on the baseball team at school but was cut because he kept interrupting the coach and demanding to play. At school, he fidgets until he leaves the classroom. The boy himself recognizes the problem — he says he feels as if he is driven by urges that will not allow him to settle down. On the rare occasion when he can stay in the classroom, he blurts out answers to questions without being called on.
