The three-part Obagi Rosaclear System is a collection of products designed to be used together to combat the redness, acne, and blotchiness associated with rosacea. The gentle cleanser removes bacteria and other residue while soothing the skin. A prescription-only metronidazole topical gel (0.75%) is formulated to help treat the pustules and papules associated with rosacea. Finally, a hydrating complexion corrector protects and moisturizes the skin and reduces the appearance of redness. The products are all non-comedogenic, and they are available through physicians' offices. A non-comedogenic sunblock with SPF 30 that compliments this product line is available separately.

Laser for Lipolysis, Contouring
The AccuSculpt system has received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration for laser lipolysis. This pulsed Nd:YAG laser system has a wavelength of 1,444 nm, which is optimal for heating adipocytes. The highly accurate, minimally invasive laser safely and efficiently emulsifies fat, improves physical contouring and the appearance of skin laxity, and reduces patient bruising and other side effects commonly associated with liposuction and other laser lipolysis treatments. Patients experience reduced postoperative pain, and have little to no downtime after laser-lipolysis treatment. The AccuSculpt system also is indicated for surgical incision, excision, ablation, and coagulation of soft tissue.

Biopelle Inc. introduces three new products to its line of Acidified Filaggrin-based Amino Acid (AFA) products. Acidified amino acid is formulated to help improve skin structure and promote skin hydration. A new AFA Soothing Eye Cream helps reduce the appearance of crow's feet by promoting the skin's moisture balance with the AFA advanced protein complex and caffeine. The AFA Ultra-Rich Moisturizer features panthenol to help the skin retain moisture. The AFA Sheer Oil-Free Moisturizer also contains panthenol, but in a lighter, noncomedogenic formula designed for normal to oily skin.

The Glytone skin care line now includes a new sunscreen lotion as part of its sun care collection. The Glytone Protect sunscreen lotion is available in SPF 30 and SPF 40. The mineral-based SPF40 sunscreen contains hyaluronic acid, as well as 7.5% octinoxate, 7.5% zinc oxide, and 2% octisalate. The lotion is free of oils, irritants, and PABA. The lightweight formula is designed to be absorbed quickly, and it is suitable for all skin types. The lotion should be applied prior to sun exposure and reapplied every two hours or after swimming or sweating. Ask a physician before using on infants younger than 6 months of age.

Bullous Pemphigoid ELISA Kits
The Food and Drug Administration has cleared the BP180 and BP 230 ELISA Kits for the detection of bullous pemphigoid antibodies. Patients with bullous phem-phigoid are known to have BP180, BP230, or both antibodies in their serum. The kits have exhibited a combined correlation of more than 90%, compared with traditional immunofluorescence detection of the two antibodies. Each ELISAkit contains a 48-well plate coated with recombinant antigen.

The formula features a copper peptide complex to stimulate hair follicles and promote the production of collagen and various proteins. The conditioner also includes a combination of botanicals and essential amino acids to help strengthen lashes that are thin and brittle. The product does not contain prostaglandin.
