Update on Confocal Microscopy and Skin Cancer Imaging: Report From the AAD Meeting

At the 75th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Anthony M. Rossi spoke about imaging in dermatology, including noninvasive imaging tools such as confocal microscopy used at the microscopic level as well as global macroscopic imaging techniques such as total-body photography and digital imaging. He noted that bedside confocal microscopy has helped to enhance diagnostic accuracy for skin cancers even before pathology confirmation. He also discussed the use of radiology in skin cancer patients to evaluate spread or perineural involvement.
