Study Detects Lower CV Risk in Breast Cancer Survivors

Key clinical point: A retrospective study suggests breast cancer survivors may have a lower prevalence of cardiac risk factors at the time of first myocardial infarction compared with the general population.

Major finding: Breast cancer survivors had a lower prevalence of diabetes mellitus, obesity, and smoking, but higher rates of dyslipidemia and hypertension, compared with women without breast cancer (All P less than .001).

Study details: A retrospective analysis of 56,842 breast cancer survivors with a first myocardial infarction.
