Abigail Cruz joined Frontline Medical Communications as a web content editor in 2016. She is a graduate of La Salle University in Philadelphia, where she majored in Communications with a minor in Criminal Justice. Born and raised in the City of Brotherly Love, she has worked with several publications, including Philadelphia Weekly and The Philadelphia Daily News.

Lucas Franki joined Frontline in 2014 as a web content editor. He is an Eagle Scout and graduated in 2013 from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.


Lori Laubach, joined Frontline as a web content editor in February 2016. She is a graduate of Kent State University (Ohio) with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Applied Communications Studies. Before completing her degree, she worked at Kent State’s television station and interned at the Key 103 radio station in Frederick, Md.

Doug Brunk is an award-winning reporter who has been covering health care since 1991. Before joining the company, he wrote for the health sciences division of Columbia University and was on the editorial staff at Contemporary Long Term Care magazine when it won a Jesse H. Neal Award. He has a master's in magazine journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Doug is based in San Diego.

Alicia Gallegos is an award-winning journalist who has covered health care, physician trends, and medical liability for more than 10 years. She reports on practice economics, medical malpractice, and legal trends for Frontline. Prior to joining the company, Alicia wrote about medicolegal issues for American Medical News, the newspaper of the American Medical Association. She launched her journalism career at the South Bend Tribune, where she covered a range of topics including health, food safety, and criminal justice. Bruce Jancin has brought our readers news of the major medical developments for more than 30 years. Bruce covers medical research and continuing education meetings around the world and is based in Denver.

Whitney McKnight is a Washington, D.C.-based multi-media clinical and policy reporter for Frontline Medical News. Formerly a journal editor in the fields of psychiatry and pediatrics, her particular areas of interest are psychosomatic medicine and the role of mental health in chronic disease. She is also the producer of the Frontline Medical News multi-media series Mental Health Consult.

Kari Oakes joined Frontline Medical Communications as part of the Midwest bureau in 2015. In addition to covering major medical conferences for a number of clients and working as an academic editor, she has been a practicing physician assistant in family medicine, emergency medicine, urgent care, and neurology. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and philosophy from St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin, and has a degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

M. Alexander Otto began his reporting career covering the pharmaceutical industry for a national pharmacists' magazine and freelancing for the Washington Post and other newspapers. He then joined BNA, now a part of Bloomberg News, covering health law and the protection of people and animals in medical research. Alex next worked for the McClatchy Company, a major newspaper chain. Based on his work, Alex won a year-long Knight Science Journalism Fellowship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2008-09. He joined the company shortly thereafter. Alex has a newspaper journalism degree from Syracuse University and a master's degree in medical science -- a physician assistant degree -- from George Washington University. Alex is based in Seattle.

Michele G. Sullivan has been a reporter and editor for more than 25 years. In her career, she has won 32 state and national awards for feature, news, and editorial writing and for newspaper design. As part of Frontline's Mid-Atlantic bureau, she received the Journalism Fellowship Award from the American Academy of Neurology in 2007 and a Gold Triangle Award from the American Academy of Dermatology in 2010.

Gregory Twachtman is a Washington-based reporter covering health policy and economic trends. Prior to joining Frontline Medical Communications in April 2014, Gregory spent nearly eight years covering pharmaceutical reimbursement, comparative effectiveness research and health information technology at "The Pink Sheet." He has been a reporter for more than 17 years, covering a wide variety of topics, including wireless and satellite telecommunications, commercial nuclear power and the commercial airline industry. Gregory graduated in 1996 from St. Joseph's College, Patchogue, N.Y., with a Bachelors of Science in accounting.

Sharon Worcester is an award-winning reporter who has been covering health care since 1992. She first joined the Southeast bureau in 1996 after working as a daily newspaper reporter covering government and health, and spent the next 13 years covering medical research and continuing medical education meetings across the country and around the world. She rejoined the company in 2015 after a 5-year stint as a freelance reporter and writer. She has a master of arts degree in mass communication and print journalism from the University of Florida, Gainesville. Sharon is based in Birmingham, Alabama

Mitchel L. Zoler joined the Philadelphia bureau in 1992 and since then has covered more than 300 medical research meetings around the world. Previously, he covered medicine and science for publications including Medical World News, Cardiology Times, Urology Times, Hospital Practice, and Science Digest. A fellowship through the American Association for the Advancement of Science landed him at Newsweek early in his career. Mitchel has a Ph.D. in microbiology and did post-doc work in virology. Mary Jo M. Dales is Editor in Chief and Editorial Director of the Medical News Division. Mary Jo began her 30-year career with the company as a reporter and went on to become the editor for various publications, including Skin & Allergy News, Family Practice News, and Hospitalist News. She was the founding editor of Rheumatology News, Cardiology News, Clinical Neurology News, and Clinical Endocrinology News and became the division's editorial director in 2002. Mary Jo has degrees in zoology and journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Denise Fulton, Executive Editor, Medical News Division, joined the company in 2000, editing Family Practice News and Skin & Allergy News prior to her current position. She covered health policy for a national advocacy group for 12 years and served as a staff member in the 100th Congress. Denise earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism at West Virginia University.

Kathy Scarbeck, Executive Editor, Medical News Division, has had editorial oversight of the wire service since its launch in 2006. In her 20 years with the company, Kathy has worked as a reporter, editor, and editorial manager of web and wire service products.
