Best Practices in Pulsed Dye Laser Treatment

Author and Disclosure Information

Dr. Navid Ezra discusses best practices in the use of pulsed dye lasers (PDLs) for treatment of vascular lesions. Dr. Ezra notes that, due to its high safety profile, the PDL is the treatment of choice for many cutaneous vascular lesions. He explains the importance of choosing appropriate laser parameters and treatment techniques administered by an experienced operator to minimize the risk for adverse effects, particularly when treating facial vessels. He also notes the importance of providing informed consent and warning patients about the risk for adverse events prior to undergoing treatment with the PDL.
