Levator ani

Author and Disclosure Information

Brought to you by the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. The levator ani is composed of the pubococcygeus, puborectalis, and iliococcygeus muscles. The authors’ objective in this educational anatomy video is to view the levator ani muscles from multiple angles using different media, such as 3D interactive pelvic models and expert cadaver dissections. Viewing the levator ani muscles and their related pelvic structures in detail from multiple anatomical views will aid in a deeper understanding of the complexity of these muscles and their role in pelvic organ support.
