Dr. Nora D. Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse at the National Institutes of Health, will participate in a virtual Q&A held through Facebook on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. Eastern time. Dr. Volkow will be on hand for an hour to answer questions about her TEDMED talk on the science of addiction, and the neurologic similarities between obesity and drug addiction.
Dr. Volkow’s talk, “Why do brains get addicted?,” was hosted by TEDMED 2014 last September and published to YouTube Jan. 27. The talk can be found here, and a follow-up blog post written by Dr. Volkow can be found here.
Those who wish to participate in the chat are encouraged to RSVP before the lecture starts and tweet questions in advance by using the #TEDMED hashtag. To access the chat, sign on to Facebook and click “Join”.
