Chronic migraine is associated with changes in the amygdala

Key clinical point: Structural and functional changes in the amygdala may contribute to transformation from episodic to chronic migraine.

Major finding: Connectivity between the amygdala and default mode network is positively associated with headache frequency in migraineurs.

Study details: An observational study of 44 patients with episodic migraine and 44 patients with chronic migraine.
