Choroid plexuses may play a role in migraine

Key clinical point: Better understanding of transport from blood to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to the brain could inform therapeutic management.

Major finding: CSF levels of soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (sVCAM1) increased with greater frequency of migraine, from 4.5 ng/mL to 7.1 ng/mL.

Study details: Prospective case-control study (n = 74).

Disclosures: The study was funded by NIH, the Sunstar Foundation, the Wyngs Foundation, and the Higgins Family. Dr. Harrington has no relevant disclosures.
